From an OT who took Level Two and Three in 2007/2008:
"Thanks again for such a great set of courses! I was amazed at how much more comfortable I felt with the car just after a few days. You two are awesome!"
Erika Craig-Wanchick from Maryland
From an OT who took Level Two and Three in 2007:
"Thanks Carol, Susan and Miriam for your enlightening and entertaining learning experience. It was highly enjoyed and the wealth of information you come away with from the two driving courses is amazing. In the 12 years that I have been practiicing as an OT, this is one of the first courses I've been to that I 've actually learned so much and enjoyed at the same time. It was very motivating for me and I am very excited about using the information I learned. I also took with me 11 other new friends and colleagues to run ideas past and share information with as we work towards starting up our driving rehab programs. Thanks again.

From an OTR who took Level Two and Three in 2006:
"I took your course back in June (both the Building Blocks and Take the Wheel). I just wanted to let you know that I finally got our propram up and running, and saw my first client this morning. I also wanted to let you know what a huge asset your courses were to me. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I would have been able to start this program (at least safely) without taking them. The list of things that needs to be done before the first client is seen was super helpful. I feel like I need to say thank you so, so, so much to you both for everything you taught during the two courses. Because of you both,I have a new specialty area within OT that I am incredibly excited about. I hope to come back in the nesx few years to take your van course. Thank you both so much,

"My program is going really well. It's so amazing that last summer, I was sitting down with only the 2 books I got from your course trying to get together some rough plans to start a program. Now, we have a car and a program and I have probably seen about 35 clients. I couldn't have done it without you {Susan} and Carol. It really is a great specialy area, and I can't wait to keep growing this program. I'm hoping that in a few years, I can get back to take your van course and we can add a van to our program."
From an OTR preparing himself to work as a Driver Rehabilitation Therapist:
"The training I received at Adaptive Mobility has provided me with a successful formula for completing a thorough comprehensive driving rehab assessment. This formula draws on all of my past experiences as a clinician to address community mobility as an activity of daily living. This includes the ability to assess vision, perception, neuromuscular functioning, cognition, and assistive technology as part of the process. The ability to complete an in depth analysis of what a driving rehabilitation assessment should include and who should be providing it has prompted me to make immediate changes in our existing program. Carol and Susan's years of experience and case studies have taught me how to think out of the little box we find ourselves stuck in as clinicians addressing community mobility. An eye opening education that is priceless!!!! A must for any Driving Rehabilitation Therapist."

These courses are fantastic! Susan and Carol bring to the program a wealth of experience, knowledge and commonsense to the practice of Occupational Therapy driver evaluations. Upon completion of both courses, I felt extremely prepared to take the Certification exam to earn my CDRS and it is solely because of the training I achieved through Building Blocks and Take the Wheel, that I have been successful in developing a comprehensive driver evaluation program at my hospital. I highly recommend the educational courses at Adaptive Mobility Services to any OT seeking continuing education in the field of Driver rehabilitation.

A word about Adaptive Mobility Services…
Susan and Carol’s dedication to their clients and the field of occupational therapy shines through during the courses they offer. They are truly experts in the field of driving rehabilitation. They are open and willing to share their knowledge with their students and colleagues. Building Blocks and Take the Wheel was a tremendous learning experience for me. It was very thorough, and after attending it, I was able to start a new and successful business for myself.

I just returned from the Building Blocks course in Orlando, and would highly recommend it. This course teaches you everything you need to know about starting up a program--and teaches you well! I cannot imagine that there is another place where you could possibly go to get as much detailed and organized information as you receive from Susan and Carol. It is amazing to me the amount information/knowledge you leave with after only one week at this course!!
I went to the ADED conference last year in Kansas City. The main things I learned were: 1. I don't know much and 2. I needed to get to the course in Orlando. To me, it seems that the ADED conference is better as a continuing education type situation. As far as initial learning and developing a program--I would definitely recommend Building Blocks! It is time and money very well spent! If you have any questions you can email me at wheelpossibilities@yahoo.com.
Good Luck!

I attended both parts of the Building Blocks program in a 3 year time span. I started with the clinical aspect of the evaluation, then returned for the on the road. It was an excellent program and extremely helpful in developing skills for a driver education program. I have also been to an ADED conference and while I found it very interesting, it offered bits and pieces in areas, but was not as intensive.
Carol and Susan are excellent instructors and I especially liked the occupational therapy perspective. (ADED's members include driver instructors from a variety of backgrounds.)
Good Luck!
